Friday Arrive at the Keele University Management Centre
(Check in for an overnight stay : Meet the Astronomy team)
Evening Meal
Keele Observatory
Visit to the Observatory, with viewing session (if clear skies)
Practical sessions and interactive lectures in Astronomy
delivered by Star Learner and the Astrophysics department at Keele


Participants will be able to:

  • identify new contexts and ideas for effective delivery of How Science Works
  • explore scientific issues and controversies, engage with inspiring teaching resources and approaches including practical work
  • work alongside scientists involved in cutting edge research to develop knowledge and skills in authentic contexts

Thanks to funding from Department for Education this course qualifies for an Impact Award bursary of £150 for the first day and £125 for subsequent days (subject to availability). Any teacher or lecturer from a state funded secondary school or college, including maintained schools, academies and free schools can apply.
